6 Reasons to choose printable Valentines

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. January felt like it was approximately 72 days long. The sweetness of Valentine’s Day will be a welcome celebration to bring a little joy to these cold winter days. I was stuck at home in the polar vortex last week, ready to start on my Valentine’s day planning. I have come to the realization that printable valentines really are the easiest way to go while still having something fun to share with friends and family. Here are 6 reasons why printable valentines are the way to go.

Quick side note: I get so many questions about the best place to print your Valentines. Up until this year, I always recommended Kinkos or Office Max, because when you take into consideration the amount of ink you use, those are the most cost effective and are a decent quality. However, I purchased an HP Envy photo printer this year and haven’t been to Office Max once. The quality is hard to beat, and with their Instant Ink program, the price is right, too!

1. Printable Valentines are available in unique themes

The selection of themes in store bought Valentines can be pretty predictable. Most of the choices involve licensed characters. I know a lot of families try to avoid character stuff and not every kid wants to give yet another Trolls or Batman valentine. If you have a kiddo who wants something quirky or different, your best bet is to shop for printable valentines.

I have a new design this year that is adorable, unique, and gender neutral. Your child can tell all her classmates, friends, and family members that she loves hanging out with them with the Sloth printable valentine. The signature line is easily editable so you don’t have to wait for me to add your child’s name to the card. As soon as you download it, follow the super simple two step directions to edit the card, print and this silly sloth valentine is ready to go. If you want to include a treat with the card, I am obsessed with these Sloth Bendables from Oriental Trading.

2. Printable Valentines are fun to put together with your kids

Sit down with your kids and let them pick their favorite printable valentine. They can help you edit the signature line and then print them out. Next, use a paper cutter (here’s my favorite style) or scissors (Fiskars are amazing) to cut the cards apart. This is all quality time with your kids and it empowers them to be involved in creating their own valentines. Putting printable valentines together is a great way to show your children the importance of investing time and thoughtfulness into giving to others. They will feel proud to hand out their cards during their class parties. One of my more popular designs for elementary school aged kids is my Super Friend printable valentines. These are available in a girl and boy design and your child will have a blast putting these heroic cards together.

3. Printable Valentines are perfect for procrastinators

We’ve all been there. It is the night before the school party and you realize you forgot about class valentines. It is raining and you have hungry and tired kids whining, so a trip to the store sounds like a nightmare. Don’t go anywhere. My printable valentines can be downloaded instantly. You make your selection, check out, and you will get an email with the pdf file to download right away. Download, customize, and print! Your kids are ready for the party and you never left the house. Even on the gloomiest of winter days, your child can give something bright and tropical with my Flamingo printable valentines. With the instant download, you can purchase and print these right before a party. No one will know it was a last minute thing with a customized, pretty valentine like this!

4. Printable Valentines work for older kids and adults too

When you shop for valentines in a store, you have two options: little kid cards and romantic adult cards. There is not a lot in between. What do you do with a sixth grader who wants to hand out cards to the class but hates everything in the aisles of your local store? I have some printable valentines that work for all ages. They aren’t dorky or too juvenile. Anyone of any age will crack up at the I Like You More Than Bacon printable valentine.

5. Printable Valentines are Reusable

Unlike store bought valentines, printable valentines are not one and done. Instantly download the design of your choice, like the printable Robot valentine. Your child can use this card for more than one year or different children can use it. One purchase can be used for multiple valentines for your family, saving you money and time.

6. Printable Valentines make treats more special

You do not have to include candy, toys, or other treats with a valentine but my kids love picking out something they know their classmates will enjoy each year. Printable valentines treat bag toppers double as a valentine card and wrapping. Here’s a cool idea for a baseball player to give to his class or team –

Print out the baseball themed treat bag toppers and fill little bags with these chocolate baseballs. You’ve got a pinterest worthy valentine card and treat all neatly put together without breaking the budget and never leaving the house thanks to an instant download from my etsy shop and amazon prime delivering the chocolates.

We’ve got less than two weeks to go. Make Valentine’s Day simple but fabulous for your family with printable valentines. Don’t let the stress of trying to put something over the top together take away the meaning of this happy day. The world could use a little more kindness right now and Valentine’s Day is an ideal opportunity to teach your kids about telling others that they are appreciated.
