Fall Halloween Holiday Ideas

Perfect Halloween Porch Decor

Happy First Day of Fall! I know Starbucks tried to start this season early by serving Pumpkin Spice lattes in August. However, today is actually the official start of the season of all things plaid and pumpkin. One of the most fun parts of fall is decorating my porch for Halloween and this year I am especially excited. All summer we worked on a DIY porch remodel. Our porch was long overdue for a makeover and we ended up just re-doing the whole thing. Pumpkins are going to look so bright and welcoming on the new dark gray composite planks my husband installed.

Pumpkins will be the centerpiece of my Halloween porch decor. There is something so sweet and simple about a pumpkin arrangement by the front door. Pumpkins are one of those things that are especially for fall. A home looks so festive in fall with bright orange, or even white pumpkins, greeting you from the front steps.

Decorate with Kids

Kids love to decorate pumpkins and there are lots of ways to undertake this fall activity. You can go old school and carve pumpkins. That can get messy and if you’re working with a precocious preschooler or a kid who hates getting his hands dirty, it is not the best option. Pumpkin stickers are a fantastic alternative to pumpkin carving. Take fresh or foam pumpkins and give them faces by simply putting on stickers. With stickers, your kids can create their own face on their pumpkin. Make happy pumpkins or scary pumpkins, all without carving. Pumpkin mustaches will have your kids and everyone stopping by your home laughing.

Stylish Halloween Porch Decor

Halloween does not mean that your porch has to look straight up scary or silly. You can keep your sense of style and still mix in some pumpkins for the season. A classic monogram can be incorporated into your Halloween porch decor with this pumpkin decal. Create an extra pretty pumpkin using polka dots! Seasonal welcome mats are a popular way to add a message to your porch but that can get pricey. Instead of changing out your mat, include a message on a pumpkin. My postal worker is on my porch picking up deliveries every day. Hopefully my “Happy Fall” pumpkin brings her a smile. Mix and match different size pumpkins with different pumpkin stickers and your porch will be all set for the season in no time.

The Teal Pumpkin Project

Have you heard about the Teal Pumpkin Project? There are so many kids with allergies and medical issues that prevent them from eating candy. If you can’t eat candy, trick or treating is a real bummer. The Teal Pumpkin project encourages families to offer little toys or trinkets instead of just candy so no child is left out of the Halloween fun. Let neighbors know you are an allergen friendly house by displaying a teal pumpkin. You can paint a pumpkin teal or just buy a foam teal pumpkin. The Trick or Treat pumpkin sticker will help your teal pumpkin really stand out and show that everyone is included at your home on Halloween. I am including a teal pumpkin in my Halloween porch decor and I hope you will too. Here are some non-candy treat ideas that any kid will love: Temporary Tattoos, Slime, Glow Bracelets

Halloween Porch Decor

Fall is finally here and pumpkins really are the perfect porch decor. Create a look that is unique like your family. Your porch can be scary, preppy, whimsical, or trendy. Once your porch is decorated, you can sit outside sipping a pumpkin spice latte wearing a plaid shirt in all your fall glory.
